Rainbow Cake and A Few New Things

It has been an incredibly busy month here and seems to have just flown by in a blurry,  flurry of snow and creativity.

First of all I must share this amazing cake with you all. Well actually, I can't share it because we ate it all! But my friend Isabel made it for me using one of my felt pictures as inspiration. The icing was enough to be oooing and aahing over but imagine our surprise when we cut into it!

Who needs an occasion to eat cake? Not us :)

Hot off the work table are these new pendants and earrings.

These heart shaped pendants are smaller than my usual ones and come on a 16 inch silver plated snake chain.

The matching earrings are hung on locally handmade, solid silver ear wires in a variety of styles. 

I will have all these new pieces with me at Falkland Craft Market next Saturday, 6th April.

I've also been busy making a batch of Sheep earrings, pendants and brooches.

 I have lots of printed cards in stock and I'm really looking forward to seeing them all displayed together at the fair. 

I will have my range of notebooks and sketchbooks with me also and hope to have a few pictures and trinket boxes made in time as well.

However, it can't be all work and no play this week as it is the holidays and I got this book out of the library for my daughter and I to make a few things from. It's a really great book and most of the projects can be made with things we already have around the house. We just need to invest in some new poster paints in pretty colours and we'll be happily crafting away these cold days.

March Update

Well this time last year we were having an unseasonable warm spell. This year we have blizzards and freezing temperatures that  have me wearing half a dozen layers of clothes and the heating in my work space up full blast!

Lots going on here though with two fairs coming up in April and Open Studios North Fife the first weekend in May.

I have had some of my most popular felt pictures made into Open Edition Giclee Prints in different sizes.

My Mum has been helping me out by sewing the beads and brooch bars onto my brooches for me. I make my brooches from my own handmade felt and genuine Harris Tweed. I usually sit of an evening sewing them up but Mum has taken on that job and I have to say her sewing is impeccable! She even had two handy little dishes on hand to keep the beads safe while sewing and gave one to me too.

These will be coming with me to Falkland Craft Market on Saturday 6th April, 10 - 4pm in Falkland Community Hall.

Falkland Craft Market Saturday April 6th

I will have a stall at Falkland Craft Market on Saturday April 6th

10-4pm

 

The craft market is to be held in Falkland Cummunity Hall

 

 

The postcode for the Hall is KY15 7BX , Falkland is well signposted from the A92. Follow signs for Parking off the A912 down South Street, Turn right onto Back Wynd & the entrance to the Community Hall & parking is on the right, opposite the new site for the local pharmacy.

 

I will have a wide variety of Aileen Clarke Crafts items for sale incluing my new Notebooks and Sketchbooks, Giclee Prints and Cards.

I hope to have some original felt pictures available as well along with Sheep Pendants, Brooches and Earrings, Leaf and Bird Brooches, Textile Jewellery and more.

Only Eight Weeks Until Open Studios North Fife 2013!

With 86 Artists and Makers taking part, Open Studios North Fife 2013 is set to be a great event!

I will be opening up The Green Door Craft Studio at 64 Commercial Road, Ladybank for the weekend of May 4th-6th. My venue number is 32.

The free brochures will be available to collect from public places all over Fife, Perth, Tayside, Dundee, Angus and Lothian from week beginning 18th March.
